President's Day Crafts

Tomorrow is President's Day, so I thought I would post some links crafts related to Presidents. Perhaps you can use them to entertain kids that might have the day off (probably most, but in my city, Tucson, the schools get Rodeo Weekend the last Thursday and Friday of the month, so most go to school on President's Day).

Abraham Lincoln Crafts: This year is the 200th birthday celebration of Lincoln (Charles Darwin was born same day, but that is off topic), so this year it might be fun to do Lincoln crafts for President's Day. A few include a Lincoln Log Cabin, Lincoln Hat Craft, Lincoln Paper Plate Craft, and Lincoln Toilet Paper Roll Craft.

George Washington Crafts: Since President's Day is mostly in February because of Washington's birthday and his birthday does sometimes end up falling on President's Day it seems appropriate to do Washington themed crafts. If I am not mistaken, the correct term for the day in the law about this being a federal holiday actually does call it Washington's Birthday observed and we only commonly call it President's Day because that is what Nixon proclaimed it as. Some Washington crafts include George Washington Toilet Paper Craft, Washington Monument, and George Washington's Hat.

Football Crafts to Entertain the Kids During the Super Bowl

Tomorrow is the Super Bowl. I know some kids like football and will enjoy watching it, but then there are others that even if they do like football will not watch the game without being somewhat of a nuisance. Below are some football craft ideas to entertain the kids like that during the football, so others can watch the game in at least some peace. If the kids are not even into football, then I recommend looking through some of my past posts and finding some other themed crafts to entertain them. Also, tomorrow I will post some football coloring pages you can print out to help entertain kids. I thought I should post the crafts today, so you can go and get the supplies if necessary possibly while getting your other Super Bowl party supplies.

Football Player Craft - This is a paper plate craft making a football player head with a helmet on. Probably a craft most kids can do with minimal supervision.

Stuffed Football Craft - This craft makes a football out of a paper bag. Some younger kids may need help with this one.

Football Beaded Safety Pin - This is a relatively simple safety pin bead project that can probably be done my most kids with minimal supervision.

Football Bead Guy - This is another bead craft that can be done with minimal supervision. This type of bead craft is even easier then the safety pin one in my opinion, but I know some say the safety pin style is easier. Basically both are rather simple bead things.

Football Handprint Wreath - Ignore the fact is says basketball as the title on this page, as the template is of a football. This is a craft that some younger kids may need some supervision with.

Football Player Toilet Paper Roll Craft - This is a rather simple craft making a toilet paper roll into a football player.

Quarterback Q. Paper Craft - This is a paper craft making a letter Q look like a football player.

I am working on planning an Indiana Jones birthday party for my brother and was looking for coloring pages. Thought I might as well share the ones I found.

Indiana Jones Digitally Rendered Coloring Pages: These are interesting and include scenes from the latest movie, however, as coloring pages they are not the clearest things. I, however, really like the Lego Indiana Jones ones, such as this one.

Good Indiana Jones Coloring Pages: This site has six scenes from the original movies and they are much better done to actually be colorable.

Indiana Jones Character Coloring Pages: This site has five coloring pages that are purely of Indiana Jones.

Indiana Jones A to Z Coloring Book: This is not the best done artwork, but it is unique and a fun way of learning more about Indiana Jones for newer fans.

Mother's Day Crafts

Mother's Day is coming up this Sunday. Here is a list of a few different craft projects I found online that would be fun for kids to make and give to their moms for Mother's Day. Certainly more precious a gift than anything store bought and it also is a great way to entertain the kids.

Flower Door Stop: This is an interesting craft using a coffee can and involves making fake flowers. If you have flowers in your backyard or somewhere else nearby you can pick them from, then that would be another option and potentially add to the time (and fun!) of making this gift. You could also try out these Coffee Filter Flowers as a fake flower alternative or to add variety to the bouquet.

Bouquet of Photo Flowers: Make these and put in a vase you already have or perhaps combine this craft with the Door Stop one above. If you go the route of using a vase you already have, then perhaps you can let the kid(s) decorate it with paints. Or you can try this Laundry Bottle Vase craft.

Home Sweet Home Photo Gallery: This is a cute craft involving making a house shaped diorama and adding photos in the house windows.

The Family Fun website has some good printable April Fools pranks. There are some for parents to play on kids and some for kids to play of parents. The ones for parents to play on kids include a Chore Camp Brochure and April Fools Word Scrambler. Paper Snowflakes

Now this is a pretty traditional craft that I remember doing many times as a kid. You start with a square piece of paper fold it in half twice to get a smaller square and then fold that into a triangle. Usually you then round the wide end of the triangle. Then you cut small shapes out to. When it is unfolded you have a beautiful snowflake. Now you can get more creative and use more complex shapes to cut out such as hearts, stars, and moons. Rest of Asia Letters

Here are the rest of the letters for Asia. I finished these a few days ago while my computer was getting repaired, but was not able to post them until I got my computer back. The I is for Indian Rupees and the A is for Amanohashidate, which is a sandy bridge in Japan with evergreens. Below is just the I letter. The A letter would not scan properly. The stupid scanner kept twisting it and not letting the whole thing be scanned no matter what I tried.

I finally got around to starting a project I am doing for decorating my living room. I have seven walls in my living room the way it is designed and I am making each one devoted to my pictures and mementos from the seven continents. Part of the project is to draw letters to identify the wall's continent. Instead of doing normal letters I am also handdrawing a picture of something that starts with that letter and relates to the continent. This one is an A in Asia being an Asian Elephant.

I have been busy with my new job, getting settled, and working on my other blogs and have again kind of abandoned this blog. I am going to try to start posting some random coloring pages or crafts posts and not go by weekly themes for now. I am not going to guarantee updating this regularly, although I certainly want to try to post some new stuff every few days. I am still open to readers recommendations or themes they want me to look for coloring pages or crafts for them and will answer all requests or post recommendations as long as they are appropriate.
